How to measure paint thickness?

Measuring paint thickness is now made easy-peasy by a nifty little gadget called a 'Pain Meter Gauge." This little ultrasonic device can "read" through the layers of the pain and give you an accurate measurement of the layers behind. If a cool little gadget is not in your budget, then you can do it the old-fashioned way by selecting a sample area on the wall and slowly but surely chip away at the layers, discovering what lay behind.
