How thick is 24 gauge?

Glad you asked...
24 gauge steel will measure at about .024 inches thick. This is for standard steel. Galvanized will be a little thicker at .028 inches , and aluminum is thinner at only .020 inches.

Then again, this answer might help you...
24 gauge sheet metal is not very thick at all, despite the "size" of the gauge. The higher the gauge number goes, the thinner the metal becomes. 26 gauge standard steel is .024 inches thick. Galvanized steel is a little thicker and measures .028 inches. Aluminium is the thinnest at a mere .020 inches.
