According to Apple you can not open an iPod yourself. It requires a special tool that is available only to Apple certified technicians. Attempting to open the iPod yourself will normally void your warranty.

If there's something wrong with your iPod and you want to try to fix it, my advice is to not try yourself. Take it to an authorized Apple repair shop, as you opening it can damage it beyond repair.
